Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time Review

{ Friday, October 1, 2010 }

THQ Inc. recently announced the new Fancy Nancy: Tea Party Time video game release to all major retailers in North America. Undoubtedly one of the best girl games releases lately, the game was based on the popular best selling children’s books Fancy Nancy, written by Jane O'Connor, illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, and published by HarperCollins Children's Books in 2005. There are over 20 books in the series which have become a phenomenon amongst young girls and their mothers selling over 10 million copies!

Readers will likely enjoy the game as they will find everything they are looking for in Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time -- dressed-up little girls, pampered pooches, shiny jewels, stickers, delicate porcelain items, long important-sounding words, and a whole lot of pink. They will have fun while exploring and preparing the tea party with their favorite neighbor Mrs. DeVine. The loveable-yet-creative Nancy looks nice and efficient as a video game character and the theme of the book is very accurately represented in the game.

Players will be amused through Fancy Nancy’s world in five mini-arcade style games, digging for hidden objects scavenger hunts and decorative items that should be eventually brought to the tea party. If a player encounters obstacles, she can choose one of six different ensembles, each giving Nancy special abilities to use when collecting fancy gems and baubles or allowing her to unlock bonus materials. They can discover scattered letters that spell out from Nancy's favorite fancy words that can be used to solve the puzzles.

The coolest thing about this game is that kids can take pictures of themselves or their friends using the DSi camera function, and will be able to create fancy stickers to post in the Sticker Album, or to just insert their photos into the game and become guests of Mrs. DeVine's tea party.
